Definition
a complex sentence construction with a figure–ground construal / information packaging of the relation between the events denoted by the two clauses. An adverbial clause construction is made up of a matrix clause and an adverbial dependent clause. Example: I left early because I was bored is an instance of an adverbial clause construction.
