Definition

the morphosyntactic category in the secundative alignment system that co-expresses both R and P roles. Example: in Huichol nee uuki uukari ne-wa-puuzeiyastɨa 'I showed the man to the girls', the index wa- '3pl' is the same used to index tɨɨri 'children' in uukaraawiciizɨ tɨɨri me-wa-zeiya 'The women see the children', and hence represents the primary object category.
