Definition
an event where an agent acts to bring about the event expressed by the complement. Example: in Bruce convinced Greg to take him to San Rafael, convinced denotes a manipulative event. Manipulative events include causative and permissive events. The complement event of manipulative events has dependent time reference. (Section 18.2.2)
