Definition
a complex sentence construction in which the subject - referents in the two clauses are coreferential. Example: Sumie patted the dog and hit the cat is an instance of a subject identity coordinate clause construction – the subject referent for both patted the dog and hit the cat is Sumie. (Section 16.5)
